Legends of Slots

Legends of Slots sounds simple from the name, but it's really a casual puzzle-collection game built around spinning reels of themed symbols. You match sets of mythological icons, and each completed set feeds into a slow progression system that unlocks new reel themes and little animated creatures. We expected to bounce off it in ten minutes and ended up playing it on and off for a week.

The controls are about as light as it gets: tap to spin, swipe to jump between reel sets, hold to see what a symbol does. There's no clutter on screen and no pop-ups fighting for your attention. It runs entirely offline, which is exactly why it ended up on our test phones for every train ride.

What kept us coming back was the collection side. Hunting down the last few rare symbols to complete a themed board gave the game a quiet 'one more go' pull. It's not demanding, and that's the point — it's the kind of thing you play with half your brain while waiting for a kettle to boil.
